How to create a basket gourd

Draw the flower design, leaves and ivy on the gourd.  Measure and center the handle and draw the handle  on the gourd.  Wood burn the flowers, leaves and ivy.  Wood burn the handle.   Draw the basket weave very carefully and then wood burn.  Remember the lines will be closer together as you go down and under the gourd.  I put an x in the squares to be wood burned completely so as to not mess up the weave.  Stipple the basket rim with a ball burner.  Cut our the handle and the flowers as per your design.  I used the fili-point burr to cut out the handle and flowers.  I used GourdMaster Transparent acrylics to dye the flowers, leaves and ivy.  I used toffee transparent acrylics on the rest of the gourd.  I painted the inside dark brown.
